Hi, I’m Patrick.

Thanks for dropping by!

It's nice that you want to know a bit about me, so here you are. :)

I’m a full stack web developer in his thirties, happily married, working in the beautiful Taunus region in Germany. For me, programming and developing software is a form of art combined with technical finesse and the challenge of solving problems (that might be solved already - but hey, we as developers always want to optimize and make your life easier, alright?).

The whole story of becoming a programmer already started in my childhood. Ever since I can remember and the first time I saw a video game running on the Commodore 64, I knew I wanted to make this stuff by myself. I wanted to be able to build games and other kinds of software all by myself.

So I digged deep, learned QBasic, Turbo Pascal, Delphi, Visual Basic, soon C/C++ and of course HTML and CSS in the early stage of web development. Yes, even PHP at times. We all have our dark secrets, okay?

After school there was no other option than studying computer science. I graduated and got my bachelor and master degree at the university of applied sciences in Frankfurt. Besides several internships and jobs as a working student I was finally able to reach my long held dream of becoming a game developer at Limbic Entertainment (the people who made Might and Magic: Heroes and Tropico 6 among others). And besides that I also made my own indie game, Super Snow Fight and presented it onstage at Gamescom 2015 in Cologne.

But the games industry was different than I expected. So I switched industries, tried different things like working for a bank or developing project management tools and a SaaS web application in the health sector. For more details, you can checkout my LinkedIn profile. Now I’m happy to build applications with the following technologies:

  • Angular
  • Node.js
  • Sequelize
  • MariaDB
  • ASP.NET
  • .NET Core
  • Web API
  • Entity Framework
  • MS SQL Server

Oh, and in my freetime I like to learn, read, hike, photograph and also teach with online courses. Feel free to say hello. :)

Take care,
Patrick
